(More customer reviews)I'm afraid this DVD was very disappointing, especially considering the price.
Though the summary implies a lot of content, the video is less than an hour (which I already knew) but the topics and detail covered could have easily been covered in 30 minutes.
1-how to assemble/disassemble an airbrush.
2-a few practise drills
3-how to make & use a stencil
4-portraiture
That's really it.
1-she doesn't really go over the various parts of the unit and their names. I think she could have said a lot more here.
2-this was the most useful part of the video. This part I liked.
3-handy to know, but this could have been explained in less than 5 mins.
4-She did 2 faces and she really should have just done the 2nd one. All she did is show the exact same techniques all over again and I really felt this served no purpose. If I wanted to repeat an exercise, I could simply rewind the chapter.
The final cake she does, the alpine scene, was...well...I hate to say it, since I love The Cake Lady...but it was dreadful.
I tried to consider that these were filmed a while ago and styles change, things become dated... but I honestly think this looked dreadful even from an early-mid 80's point of view.
If I had paid for this myself, I'd only be annoyed but this was on my wishlist and was purchased as a gift for me.
When asked how I liked the gift, I got embarrassed as I had to lie and said I loved it. Very awkward.
Turns out the information I wanted was available on her Decorating Techniques DVD which I didn't know until the very end of this DVD when they show some teasers of her other stuff. Frustrating.
I will say, the bit at the end of her cake decorating museum was nice, though. I was glad I got to see that.
