(More customer reviews)I bought these a few months ago and just got them out to try them. I don't do a whole lot with fondant but they look so cute. Well, the directions say to use Flower Paste (ie, gum paste), which isn't really edible, so I don't like to use it. That means you'd have to tell people the letters won't taste good and they probably shouldn't eat them. Also, it says to roll the flower paste super thin, so the letters will also be very thin. I had in mind that they would be more like 1/4" thick, not 1/16" thick. It's just a different look than I imagined. I tried to make the letters with fondant, but I was using black to match the other decorations on the cake, and it says to use lots of dusting powder (ie, powdered sugar and cornstarch), so the letters were covered with that. Normally, you can rub shortening on fondant to get rid of the "dusty" look, but these letters were too small and delicate to rub with shortening. I got frustrated and eventually gave up and did the lettering by hand with buttercream. If I try them again with gum paste, I'll write about how that went.
