(More customer reviews)I always thought Portmeirion beyond my budget, so this cup & saucer's price looked good (much less than the floral design Portmeirion). When it first arrived, I was a bit overwhelmed by the very 50's sputnik/pop look flower print and bright colors. It's grown on me -- always makes me smile in the morning when it's dark outside and pouring rain (Oregon in winter).
The cup, when held up to the light, is translucent like good china -- it's also strong - several drops on a wooden floor and it still hasn't chipped. The handle doesn't get hot even if the contents are, and in a microwave, the contents heat but the cup stays pretty cool, as does the saucer.
One star off from perfect as I wish the saucer used the flower design. The saucer seems like an afterthought.
